SISTERS, OR - Tonight, Republican voters nominated Deschutes County Commissioner Patti Adair as their candidate for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District. Declaring victory, Commissioner Adair stated the following.

“I am deeply grateful for the trust that voters from across District 5 have placed in me. It is an honor and responsibility that I do not take lightly.

Over the past six months, I have logged 25,000 miles, driving to every county in the 5th District, talking to voters. I have heard the same thing in every county. From Multnomah to Clackamas to Linn to Jefferson to my home of Deschutes County, Oregonians are struggling. Oregonians of all walks of life, parents, small business owners, union workers, farmers, and more, tell me that our current Representative has failed them - prioritizing politics and partisanship over delivering results that improve their lives.

I never planned on running for Congress. I am not a career politician; I am a proud mother, wife, businesswoman, philanthropist, and fourth-generation Oregonian who has spent her entire life serving others. I am not a partisan; I am a problem-solver who prides herself on bringing people together and delivering results that improve Oregonians' lives. You don’t just have to take my word for it; you can look at my record as a Deschutes County Commissioner.

Over my two terms, I consistently brought together Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Independents, and people of all backgrounds. From delivering new judgeships to improve public safety, to allocating $70,000 to combat food insecurity when Congress failed to do its job and fund the government, to expanding our program that helps end homelessness amongst veterans, to making Deschutes County the most pro-small business county in all of Oregon, I have consistently delivered real results. That is the same approach I will take in Congress.

In Congress, I won’t just talk about bipartisanship when the calendar turns to an election year, as our current Representative does. From my very first day in Congress, I will focus on reaching across the aisle to build consensus and deliver solutions for Oregonians. I will tackle the cost of living, ensure that government remains accountable to the people, prioritize public safety, and fight for increased access to truly affordable healthcare. Above all, I will put the needs and views of my constituents first, not the views of political parties or special interests.

I love Oregon and America. I truly believe that when we work together, there are no challenges we can’t overcome and no problems we can’t solve. I believe that with commonsense leadership, our best days are ahead of us.

I look forward to continuing to travel to every corner of the 5th Congressional District to meet voters and share that message.
