SISTERS, OR - Today, Deschutes County Commissioner and Republican nominee for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, Patti Adair, called for Congresswoman Janelle Bynum to condemn ballot measure IP28. Commissioner Adair stated the following:
“IP28, also known as the People for the Elimination of Animal Cruelty Exemptions Act, is a direct threat to Oregon farmers, hunters, ranchers, and fishers. It would put Oregon farmers and ranchers out of business, ban hunting and fishing, threaten family restaurants, impede education and scientific research, and even take away your ability to trap a mouse. This would make buying groceries more expensive, as we have to import food from other states. It would make going out to eat more expensive and cause many family-owned establishments to close. It would cost countless Oregonians their jobs and their livelihoods. Further, we would lose over $2 billion from our local economy. If Janelle Bynum truly cares about working-class Oregonians, then she needs to condemn IP28. It is too extreme for Oregon.”
