SISTERS, OR - Deschutes County Commissioner & Candidate for Oregon’s 5th District Patti Adair released the following statement in response to Janelle Bynum voting to shut down the government (again).

“Here we go again. Congresswoman Janelle Bynum voted yesterday to partially shut down the government. She voted against FEMA disaster relief, against paying our air traffic controllers, and against paying our troops. This funding bill was a bipartisan compromise supported by dozens of Democrats. Still, Janelle Bynum chose political brinksmanship over common sense, putting our national security at risk.

The last time Congresswoman Bynum voted to shut down the government, as a Deschutes County Commissioner, I stepped up. I led an effort to feed the hungry while Janelle was in Washington, D.C., voting to withhold funding to feed those who needed it most. I am going to Congress to solve problems and deliver real results. Congresswoman Bynum’s vote reaffirms that she is out of touch with Congressional District 5.”
